Good - just checking… You can’t be too sure these days. 

Anyhow - the song was originally intended for Apollonia 6, one of His Purpleness’ side projects (under the pseudonym Jamie Starr). In the end, Prince decided to give it to The Bangles, and we all know what happened there. 

This is the original demo version, with Prince on backing vocals. 

It’s hard to say which version is better, but as Apollonia looked a whole heap sexier in this video of their main hit “Sex Shooter”, plus THAT scene in “Purple Rain” where she, uh, purified herself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka (You know the one I mean. Don’t even lie), I’m putting my money on Apollonia.
